About me

Research: My research primarily focuses on the impact of digital technologies on journalism and strategic communication practices emphasizing how these technologies promote positive social change in areas of science communication, public health, climate change, and organizational communication in a global context. My studies are published in several journals.

Professional Experience: With over 10 years experience of practicing both journalism and public relations, I have honed my skills in broadcasting news production and strategic communication campaign management. I worked as a broadcast independent journalist/producer at Vietnam’s National Television, where I produced various shows, including “New Energies News” and “Science and Technology News” for over six years. As a public relations professional, I have successfully coordinated multiple nationwide campaigns for social change in Vietnam, including:

Teaching: I have taught several classes at the William Allen White School of Journalism & Mass Communications at the University of Kansas. I have had the opportunity to share knowledge and expertise at various universities such as The Broadcast College I, The University of Social Science and Humanities – Hanoi, The Academy of Diplomatic, and The Posts and Telecommunication Institute of Technology – Hanoi.

  • JMC 302 (Information Exploration), as a course coordinator and instructor, teaches students about different types of sources (e.g., government, business, and nonprofit) and how to evaluate their credibility
  • JMC 304 (Writing for Media) aim at sharpening students’ writing and editing skills for news (e.g., news and feature writing) and strategic communication (e.g., press release, creative brief)

Multimedia and research projects: I am well-versed in sets of skills and expertise in broadcast production, visual storytelling, data analysis, and digital communication.

  • Video production and design: Adobe Suite (e.g., video/image editing and designing), Open-source web design (e.g., Canva, Wix, and WordPress).
  • Data analysis: Data analysis and programming for research (e.g., MaxQDA, Lancbox, Python, SPSS, and R); Data analytics in social media campaigns (e.g., Facebook Analytics and Google Analytics)
